Rockland Maine Beaches - small coastal pebble beaches and quiet lakefront vistas

Rockland Maine is not generally known for its beaches. The shoreline along this part of the Maine coast is very rocky. As a result, the beaches are much smaller and less sandy then those found in Southern Maine. However, they are much more picturesque. And although the ocean water can be very brisk at times, you will find it is crystal clear and full of sea life. Many of the coastal beaches are great places for beachcombing and hunting for sea shells. You can also visit the lakes nearby which provide much more moderate freshwater temperatures for swimming as well as some amazing scenery.
