How to Get to Rockland - whether by air, automobile, train or boat, Rockland, Maine is easy to find

Camden is a picturesque town in midcoastal Maine, nestled at the foot of Camden Hills on Penobscot Bay. Located between Portland and Bar Harbor, and less than 200 miles from Boston, Massachusetts, Camden, Maine is located on U.S. Route 1. Camden is about four hours northeast of Boston and less than two hours from Portland, Maine.

By Automobile

From Points South
Take Interstate 95 north through NH to the Maine Turnpike (I-95N). Follow the Maine Turnpike to Exit 44, I-295 NORTH towards SO. PORTLAND/PORTLAND DOWNTOWN. Follow I-295N past Portland. I-295N becomes I-95N. Follow I-295/I-95N approximately 18 miles to exit 28, BRUNSWICK/BATH/COASTAL ROUTE/U.S. ROUTE 1. Take exit 28 to U.S. Route 1. Follow U.S. Route 1 North to Route 90 just north of Waldoboro, Maine. Turn left onto Route 90. Follow Route 90 until it meets with U.S. Route 1 in Rockport. Take a left onto U.S. Route 1. Camden is just 2 miles further directly on U.S. Route 1.

Alternate Route from Points South
This is also known as Coastal U.S. Route 1 Bypass: Drive North on I-95 to Exit 27 GARDINER - ROUTE 201. Follow Route 201 into Gardiner and stay straight over bridge. At end of bridge, turn right then take the next left onto Route 226. Follow Route 226 until it ends and take a right onto Route 17. In West Rockport, Route 17 intersects with Route 90. Take a left onto Route 90 and drive until it meets with U.S. Route 1 in Rockport. Take a left onto U.S. Route 1. Camden is just 2 miles further directly on U.S. Route 1.

Yet Another Alternate Route from Points South
Many visitors use this route to bypass the heavy summer traffic on U.S. Route 1. Take I-95 to Exit 109 AUGUSTA and follow Route 17 East toward the City of Rockland. In West Rockport, Route 17 intersects with Route 90. Take a left onto Route 90 and drive until it meets with U.S. Route 1 in Rockport, Maine. Take a left onto U.S. Route 1. Camden is just 2 miles further directly on U.S. Route 1.

 


 

From Points North
Drive south on Interstate 95 from Canada, take Exit 45, heading East on I-395 in Bangor. Take the first exit ramp right onto the Route 202 bypass to Hampden. At the end of the bypass turn left onto Route 9, and at the light turn right onto Route 1A South. Route 1A ends at coastal U.S. Route 1 in Stockton Springs. Traveling south will lead you through Searsport, Belfast, Northport, and Lincolnville Beach to Camden, Maine. Camden is directly on U.S. Route 1.

Alternate Route from Points North
From Quebec, Canada: Take 73 South to 173 South. At the U.S. border, 173 South becomes 201 South. Exit 95 South, continue to the City of Augusta. In Augusta, take17 east toward the city of Rockland. In West Rockport, Route 17 intersects with Route 90. Take a left onto Route 90 and drive until it meets with U.S. Route 1 in Rockport. Take a left onto U.S. Route 1. Camden is just 2 miles further directly on U.S. Route 1.

By Plane

Airline Service
Major airlines fly into Portland International Jetport (85 miles south) and Bangor International Airport (65 miles north). Daily commercial air service is also available to Knox County Airport, at Owls Head in Rockland, Maine (15 miles south). There is limousine service from Portland and Bangor airports, and car rentals are available at all three airports. There is also taxi service available from the Knox County Airport.

Concord’s Midcoast Maine Route runs regularly scheduled bus service between Boston and Orono, Maine. The Midcoast Maine Route includes the following stops: Portland, Brunswick, Bowdoin College, Bath, Wiscasset, Damariscotta, Waldoboro, Rockland, Camden/Rockport, Lincolnville, Belfast, Searsport, Bangor and the University of Maine in Orono.

Train Service
The Amtrak Downeaster Service offers 5 departures daily from Boston to Portland Maine. They offer free high speed wireless internet access aboard the train. The duration of the trip is roughly two hours and there are snacks available, some seating options and you may bring your bicycle aboard. The train leaves out of Boston’s North Station. Car rentals, bus service, and limousine services are available at the Portland train station.
