Fawcett's Antique Toy & Art MuseumWhere can you find an extensive collection of antique toys and popular comic art that is among the finest on public display anywhere in the United States today? At Fawcett's Antique Toy & Art Museum that is located in Waldoboro Maine, about twenty minutes away from Rockland. Located just off U.S. Route 1, this museum is housed in a nineteenth century country roadhouse.

If you want to revisit some wonderful childhood memories of past American popular culture, Fawcett's Antique Toy Museum has antique and rare cartoon toys of all kinds. To illustrate the full range of items here, people can discover radio premiums, rare cereal boxes, antique radios featuring western heroes and other comic characters, World War II propaganda toys, Popeye, Felix the Cat, Snow White, Betty Boop, puppets, paper toys, toy soldiers, and rare toys from around the world. These are just a few examples.

Fawcett's Antique Toy & Art MuseumDo you remember Mickey Mouse and friends before they were modernized and plastic? There is an exhibit here that honors the original 1930 creations. This museum is also home to one of the most extensive collections of Lone Ranger toys, art and memorabilia, comics, and original Lone Ranger paintings from WXYZ radio station in the world. There is also a large collection of Betty Boop dolls and figurines.

The Toy Museum has two floors with six rooms of display. Most people will need an hour to view most of the collection. Much of the toys, posters and comics on display date from the first half of the 20th century. Display items include rare 1930s Popeye and Jeep toys, a Lionel World War II, 1942 paper toy train, mint in-the-box, and original Disney Fantasia animation art. There is also a 1937 Hazelle's marionette Thimble Theatre stage with Popeye, Olive Oyl and Wimpy. If you are looking for more recent items, the museum has a life-size Yoda and original Star Wars figures (including all the rare versions), Big Little Books, and popular comics.

One of the most unique and wonderful things about this museum is that it is intended for and built for adults that have a love and appreciation for antique and notable toys. While it is not an interactive museum for children, they are certainly welcome to enjoy the facility under adult supervision.
